At SOAR, our mission is to guide and develop the gifts of students through skilled training and one-to-one encouragement. We currently offer lessons in voice, drums, guitar, bass, and piano as well as ensembles and group classes for ages 6 and older. All of our instructors are highly trained with either a Bachelors Degree or years of experience in their field.
SOAR (School of Artistic Refinement) is a place to empower people to reach their fullest potential in the creative arts. SOAR is a training ground to help people grow, discover, and fulfill their unique purpose-creatively.
PROGRAM DETAILS AND CLASSES
Each student will have a 30 minute private lesson with a skilled instructor once a week on either Tuesdays or Thursdays.
All ensembles will be held at the Spring Lake Park Campus during Fall and Spring semesters.
"SINGERS WORKSHOP" (Choir)
Choir is for ages 6-12 and will meet every Thursday from 6:00-7:00 at the Spring Lake Park Campus.
In this class, students will learn rhythms, harmonies, and some basic theory knowledge. They will also learn 1-2 songs that they will perform in the recitals.
Want to jam out with other drummers? This class can take on different forms from organized jam sessions, playing songs with others, and learning how to lock in a groove.
SOUNDS OF SOAR VOCAL ENSEMBLE *Audition only
This is an elite group directed by JonCarlos Velez. This group will be audition only, and will be for the older students (12+). This is a great opportunity for advanced singers. This group will “tour” and do special events around the twin cities.
For more info and questions on auditioning please contact JonCarlos Velez at firstname.lastname@example.org or Gabriella Velez at email@example.com
Creative Music workshop
In this class, students will learn the foundations of music theory, composition, songwriting, and more. Students will get the opportunity to collaborate with each other, co-write songs, and learn to play/sing together.
SOAR is now offering a week long summer camp for singers, guitarists, drummers, and piano players!
The camp will run a series of workshops and group lessons and students will have the opportunity to learn to play as a band, create their own music, and grow in their instrument.
There will be a showcase at the end of the week where students will be able to show off and perform.
SOAR Camp will be held Monday- Friday. Ages 11-18 will meet from 1-5pm. Students must have at least a year of experience on their instrument.
Students have the option of going to the Collaboration Room where there are instructors and art mentors who are there to give musical advice as well as some basic music tutoring. There will be snacks for the students (and parents)! Students can come to the Collaboration Room as they are waiting for their lesson time or waiting to be picked up. This is a great place for our SOAR community to meet and spend time together.
Our students have the opportunity to showcase their achievements in our fall and spring recitals.

ADAPTIVE PIANO LESSONS -Available upon request
Adaptive lessons are ideal for students who have difficulty learning by traditional approaches because of learning challenges, or a cognitive/physical disability. Students who would benefit from an adapted approach may have difficulty maintaining focus, deficient memory, following directions and sequencing, difficulty with written notation, challenges with finger dexterity, or high anxiety (or anything else that prevents a student from learning.) In adaptive lessons, an instructor typically has additional education, experience, or training in working with these populations to accommodate a student’s learning style or to adapt to behavioral, social or cognitive issues. The student may benefit in many ways by learning an instrument, however, the instructor does not address treatment goals related to diagnoses.
